More Mooch!

Now I know this is late and all (UK time) on a Friday night! Many of you are prob hitting bars, clubs or pubs as I type this, so you might not be reading. If you are it may likely be the next day as you nurse your hang overs from hell but whatever you are doing please enjoy my latest blog entry!

So, if you have been following up till now (if so thank you very kindly) you will know that I have been doing some logo work for a DJ/producer named, Moosh. If not, then I'll splat you with this fish I have here and tell you to wake up! Well, that is a lie, I have no fish but if I did, well, that would be a bit odd..............
Anyway, getting to the point, lately I have been busy drawing up more evil bears for the guy (based on his logo if you have not been following). That and getting my t-shirt submitted into Qwertee's data base, but that bit of info I will leave until the end. Right, on with the show!! Want to see some photos of these evil bears?? Oh you do do you? Please bear (pun intended) in mind these are photos of my inked in work so areas still need to be ironed out.

All these bears from manic bears with axes and clubs to gas masks and guns are all part of a massive banner project illustration for Mooch, but also if he wants he can use the bears on their own in separate stuff to illustrate his music with too! I will show you the full blown finished illustration come Mondays blog post. If not then maybe even a delayed Tuesday post! So keep following guys because things are about to get crazy!

OK guys, coming to the end here so now I will plug the t-shirt I've just submitted and is up on Qwertee and even Redbubble for that matter! Please come to Qwertee and vote for me to get this t-shirt printed. If it gets printed it will go up on sale for £8/€10/$12 for 2 days! Thank you for your interest and future votes people!! Here's the links,

Ink Monsters!

So then, what do you think? I've finished my new t-shirt design at last! I call this baby, "Ink Monsters!" Wow my hand hurts right now because I hurried so much to get this piece done! May be it wasn't such a good thing doing so but I wanted it finished and uploaded for you all to see so much! This here piece, this, "Monster piece" if you will was coloured using only 5 colours. Black, white, yellow, blue, and grey! Actually this here piece I am really proud of because this is my first attempt at using Half Tones! Yep, that is right!! It may look like it is using more colours (for example the shading) but it is that wonderful illusion that is Half Toning for yer!! If you do not know what that means let me tell you! Half Toning is tiny black dots clustered together to create shading. Kind of like cross hatching but with dots instead! Cool huh?? Right I am off to hand this thing in to, Qwertee or Red Bubble and may be some others too!! Catch you on the flip!

Come check out my Facebook page and give me a liking if you have not done so all ready! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jak-Gibberish-presents-Gibberish-Art/46813535317

Something Finished, Something In Ink Mode, And Something Re-Done!

Remember when I showed you all a pencil sketch of a scared pen looking character, a part of my new t-shirt design? Well, that design is looking much better now that I have just inked the sucker in. Now I am really looking forward to seeing this coloured and finished because I think the thing really pops out at yer!! This monster character in the design I am indeed happiest with...

... But going back to that pen character I showed you, I wasn't 100% sure on the guy! Yeah so he was nicely drawn and all but the geeza did not look like a pen much I have to say! So, I bit my lip and did this to the poor fella!
I started to think what would make a pen look more like a...... Well, pen! Also another thing troubling me was even though the piece itself is a cartoon, the ink (drawing of ink trails/splats) looks way too runny for it to be a marker pen, looks more like paint to be honest. I decided maybe if I change it to a fountain pen the runny ink would seem more suited. But then as I was drawing away I though the thing would look great with an added scared pencil thrown into the mix! Damn designs get harder to work around when you only can use a max of five colours! Check this out and tell me what you think?!
Still only a pencil sketch but I love these two much better than that other guy! LOL at their facial expressions!!

Oh.......Oh........Oh, and before I leave yer guys (damn I am really making this too long ain't I?) I wanna show you the finished Mooch logo I've been doing! That thing with the evil bear (here is Mooch's Facebook page for more https://www.facebook.com/DJMooch)!! Looking good I think but lets see what Mooch thinks about the colours huh (hope he likes)?!!

All right before this post gets way too long I am jetting out for a good Friday night with a beer!! Also if any of you are reading this who is not apart of my Facebook page please come down and give me a like! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jak-Gibberish-presents-Gibberish-Art/46813535317

Old Art Re-Discovered!

Well well well well! I was looking through some old pieces of mine yesterday and I found something I had almost forgotten about!! Some weird 'n' bizarre piece I did a few years back but just stuffed in some portfolio folder and left to gather dust! You know them types of folders you buy to get up some motivation in your work but then later think to yourself, "why the hell did I buy a folder so huge?!" One of those hard cased massive massive art folders you used once to cart your work to an interview miles and miles away but then think when you get there, "I am never gonna use this damn thing again?!" Yes those folders!! I have loads of these things but never use them full of old work, some crap others great!! But I found this and thought, I do need to finish this piece! I need to colour it! Make it have so many wonderful crazy colours! It has to be done! My god it is a sign!! Besides I F'ing love this illustration!!

This piece of mine has to be my most surreal and twisted piece ever and yet I had done little next to nothing to get it out there and seen! OK, I think now this has to be sorted out!! It has a story behind it. While sitting there staring at it I couldn't help but think back to that crazy weekend this originates from but, that my friends is a story best kept back for another day :)! So then you lot, what do you think about this illustration of mine? This old piece of art re discovered huh?

The New, The Inked in, and The Down Right Evil!!

The other day I got a thinking for a brand new t-shirt design. Something a bit more simple but funky all the same! I am gonna love playing around with this idea! Only rough pencil sketchings of the thing so far but, indeed, it is coming on nicely! Take a look see at the start of it all! Love this scared pen guy!!

Also the other day I got busy inking in my collab I am involved in with my mate Sebastian Freuler http://www.sebastienfreuler.com/. It is taking a while getting this all done but it is going to look so groovy! Now it is just down to the background and I am on to the colour!

Lastly but not least.....Errr....ly I have been doing some logo and illustration work for Mooch, a dubstep DJ and producer out in Australia https://www.facebook.com/DJMooch! Looking sick is all I can say! Evil bears are coming so get yourself ready Freddy!!

Be great when I get on to colour work on some of this stuff!! Oh so much to do so little time to do it in! You can be sure though that I will update you lot on when things are all done and polished!!

I'm such a big kid!!

Oh back again after a few days! Yeah, it has indeed been a busy week for me and I ain't been getting the time to draw *sad face* But while I was out I randomly got the urge to buy something silly!! Check this out and tell me I am not the biggest kid you know!

Nerf- Maverick

I don't know maybe it is the fact my b-day was the other week or something but I was feeling damn old!! I mean it felt like yesterday that I was eight years old playing Super Mario World on my brand new SNES come that cold Christmas morning! Or even Donkey Kong Country FFS!!
But wait! The silly buying did not stop there as I wanted to get one a step up! Something bigger! So my friends, I went that one step up and this is the result!!

Nerf Recon- CS-6

OK......OK....... Now I admit I went a bit over board but hey these guys are fun and now I feel like that kid again :P!!...... Hey, I think I am gonna paint these guns sometime and make them look crazy! What do yer say?!

Inspiring Toons!

Ah, back again after a wild weekender! Now that was a great couple of days but did not get a chance to write something new! As I was semi recovering from it all yesterday I just started lazing around going through some old Robert Crumb cartoons! I thought, damn would love to show off some works by great artists who have inspired me over the years. But the truth is, I don't really have a whole list of people who have. I just normally tend to like so much from so many people around and never really have any names down in concrete. But two really stand out most in my mind, Robert Crumb and Rick Griffin. For those that don't know 'em, Robert is famous for those Fritz the Cat comics (aside from a ton more other stuff) and Rick for his Grateful Dead album covers and surfer art, both of them doing comic art around the 60's and 70's! Would just love to show some random pieces from them two! Amazing stuff, really amazing! So here goes and enjoy!!
